Ambulance and Paramedic Team (Responder Group)

Ambulance Team
The FMS Ambulance team is part of the Responder Group and provides a frontline response. It has volunteers at all the events that FMS provides medical services for, volunteering in a variety of roles.
The Ambulance team can be deployed;​

Volunteering on an FMS Ambulance providing on site ambulance cover working as part of a two- person crew.

Patrolling the event site on foot, responding to calls for assistance via the FMS communications team and members of the public. Working with a suitably qualified member of staff.

Assisting at the FMS Hospital, minor injury units and walk in centres.

Volunteering with the off-site FMS Ambulance team.

Volunteering with the new Cycle Responder Team.

Assisting in the FMS Medical Communications Centre.
The minimum requirement to join the team is.
-
A valid IHCD Ambulance Technician or equivalent Qualification.

Student Paramedic, with adequate experience.

A valid FREC 4 or equivalent Qualification, with ambulance experience.

NMC registered Nurse, with ambulance experience.
-
GMC registered DR, with ambulance experience.
-
HCPC registered ODP, with ambulance experience

You will be expected to prove qualifications each year these include,

Medical Qualification/Registration
-
Safeguarding Adults and Children Level 1 & 2
-
MCA with DoLS
-
Manual Handling
-
Infection & Prevention Control
-
BLS
If you do not have safeguarding, MCA & DoLS, Manual handling, infection control or BLS through your day job these can be completed with FMS as an online learning package. Applications will be considered from clinicians with appropriate or relevant training or experience and applicants who hold appropriate qualifications to the role, subject to approval by the FMS Paramedic Team Co-ordinator / Manager.
Membership
The team receives a large number of applications each year, a number that increases year on year. Recruitment continues throughout the year although during the event season (May – September) the time scale for which applications are reviewed is extended to allow the teams volunteer co-ordinators to plan for and attend events. The minimum age to volunteer with the team is 21 yrs. Applicants will be expected to complete and enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) application, which is provided free to FMS as a registered charity. You will also need a full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.

Paramedic Team
The Paramedic team is also part of the Responder Group, and provides a frontline response. It has volunteers at all the events that FMS provides medical services for, volunteering in a variety of roles – the FMS Paramedic team can be deployed;

The minimum requirement to join the team is being an HCPC registered paramedic.
